what alex kapranos did

♪for freedom I can die♪
It's part of the song Jacqueline of Franz Ferdinand. When Alex Kapranos wrote that song he didn't know how it would effect me. Have you ever known the story of the roman man who died for freedom?
When Cesar was elected dictator for the rest of his life one of the members of the aristocracy committed suicide and expalined the thing by saying that he loved too much freedom to be able to live under the power of Cesar. Well, I'm a fan of franz Ferdinand's and also a big admirator of the roman guy; it's easy to think that this part of the song just blew my mind. Also it's part of what I am, I love freedom: it means doing what I'm meant to do, follow my diamon. Soon I realised that freedom is the most important thing I have, for freedom I can really die. This is what Alex did, he made me realise of the most important thing I have, FREEDOM. Freedom is to me like being a wild horse, a gispy, going anywhere I want to, following my diamon. Now I'm free, but not so much, I ahve to stay at home, do what my parents want to, but when I'll get older I'll go away and be naturally and forever free.

Nick McCarthy and the others: designers, musicians or both?

I've noticed that more and more musicians are now creating their own brand of clothes. What do you think about that?
Well personally I've thought about the thing and it doesn't make me so confident about what to think. Starting from Eric Clapton, that designed some clothes in the 90s, and now looking to all these pop stars that are not only designing some peaces of clothes, like bags or some t-shirts, but are creating entire collenctions, we are now full filled with the latest "Gwen Stefani" clothes, or the creations of  Jennifer Lopez. I think that musicians are sometimes too much managers and think too much to the money aspects of their carreers. I have to say htat I'm not very much the kind of person that likes compromises, but I prefer the musicians that designes a couple fo peaces for another collection than a musician that starts it's own brand. I say this as I've just read on an article the fact that Nick McCarthy of franz Ferdinand has designed a couple of peaces of clothing for Pringle of Scotland. Well, i had heard the name Franz Ferdinand for the runway of pringle of Scotland that took place in Milan last June, but on the tv was said that they were there "as an example of Scottish elegance." No doubt for the Scottish elegance, now that I've found out why they really were there I feel a little disturbed for the fact that they actually were there because Nick designed some clothes. I think that Franz Ferdinand make enough money for the members of the band to survive, so why should they do that? I can't understand, well if someone  has an idea please tell me, 'cause I want to know.

P.S. take a look to the t-shirt that Nick wears, it's his creation, it's nice but not that  outstanding, isn't it?

Andy Gillet

When I discoverd this face along with the spot of the new parfume for Kenzo a world was opened to me.
Andy Gillet. I have never liked the androginous males, the fact that they can remember girls never appealed to me, I like the ones I call "strongly males", the ones that can play sports, that have muscules, that are strong... But as I've seen Andy I realized that the he looks androginuos and so fragile. But I looked up on the internet for him, so this is what i've found out. hes a former male model, french and now he's an actor. He played in the film "Les amours de Astrée et Chandon", in which he had to be dressed as a woman for half of the film (and here comes out the androginous stuff), but still he looks so sexy in the clothes of a girl. He might not be a "strongly male", the one that make you become reddish for their sex-appeal, but still he looks so appealing, so masculin and feminin at one that people just can't find a way to take it's eyes of him. The long hair might confuse a little, but still makes so fragile his delicate face. Also that strong look in his eyes, his perfect lips make him a pattern for the unusual male beauty.
Andy Gillet is a man that simply represents what must women want, an elegant, nonchalant, self-assured but fragile man.

Shine on

Often we are sad, often we just can't cover up our face full of disappointment and troubles. Often we can't stand some people, some situations. Well learn from me, put on your Carrera sun glasses, walk away from the place that disturbes you and just shine on.

Luke Pritchard

Luke Pritchard isn't my favourite singer (I can't help loving Alex Kapranos ;) ). Still the passion that he puts in his songs is outstanding, it looks like that to him there is nothing more important that going out on the stage and entertaining people, showing his feeling with his songs. Also I think that Luke has a fantastic clothing style, he's indie and his clothes are amazing, if every boy could dress like he does the world would be filled up with very stilish guys.
Kooks is such a fantastic band, they have an amazing sound thinking to their young age!!!
I've seen one of their live shows and that's how I learnt to apreciate them, then I listened to all their song and I have to say that when I'm feeling down they can always give me a smile with "shine on" and "she moves in her own way".
Long life to the wonderful talent of the Kooks and their amaizing frontman, Luke Pritchard.

Music

Music has always had an important role in my life, I live for music, I live of music. My dream is to go to Glasgow and partecipate to all the gigs in town. I love mainly english music, but scottish music sounds more genuine to me than british music. It's more imperfect but 8 times out of 10 arrives to my heart easily. Some British bands seem to be immediately perfect, they need no changes. Super players playing in super groups, and in the moment the band splits up mainly none of the ex-members does a good job alone.
Scottland is giving birth to many interesting bands. My favourite one? With no doubt Franz Ferdinand. none of them is an excepional musician, I don't like all of their songs (their last album was in some ways disappointing) but I think that they are my favourite band ever, just because I'm able to listen to them over and over again. They put energy and passion in their work, they may not be the best musicians taken singularly, but all together they have a perfect sound.
The same thing may be said about the Irish band U2: Edge is not the best guitar player on earth, Larry Mullen is not the best drummer, Adam Clayton isn't the best bass player on earth, but all together U2 is the hugest rock band on Earth now. U2 made some of the most enjoiable songs that ever have been invented.
Perfect bands are boring, I came across on TV of a live concert of a british band, they were good. My father, who was with me, said "this is a band that can play. The guitarist is good, the drummer can play drums and the bass player can play the drums." As we continued listening to the concert I understood one thing, I didn't like the band because they were too perfect so the song resulted boring.
I prefer by far a band like the Kooks, that can always make me smile.

Chérie Dior

New it is Xmas, and as usual we are invaded by parfumes spots. They are everywhere, at the bus stops, in the shops windows, in the magazines and mainly at the television. Well, every year we all promise to ourselves not to belive to the "perfect life" offered by the spots, but every year we can't resist them, we are attracted by this super thin models, beautiful actors and actresses and the gorgeous models.
I promise myself that I won't belive them, but as I see Charlize Teron saying "gold is cold, diamonds are dead" I just can't help loving again all the parfumes. Lets not talk about James Franco that assures us "the whole world is changing, I will be the same", and I would like to comment, "thanks God!!!". But I'm not here to talk about female hormons messing up for James Franco's face.
Well, it just happened to me to see a picture on an old magazine of Dior's parfume Chérie. The photo is so delightful the young girl seems a teenager looking for fun, she is in pink, colour of happiness, she isn't smiling she's got this "?" expression on her face. She's so sweet, as every girl would like to be, and here is the philosopy of pubblicity: aiming to be like who the spot shows you. But then I see the harmless roses for once not connected to passion, the funny hat, the sparkled dress the joy of life that is in the girl's eyes (she even doesn't look like a model for she looks so normal), and again I'm captured by the dream of being like her, like a Chérie.
Chérie, Dior, the scent of teenage dreams.

P.S. I'm sorry for the photo being not perfect but I was to lazy to look up on the internet fot it and I just took a photo from the magazine with the computer's camera ;)

song of the month

Well I love the libertines. They make me feel so fine with their innocent music and this is my favourite song:

Music when the lights go out

Is it cruel or kind not to speak my mind,
and to lie to you rather than hurt you?
Well I'll confess all of my sins
after several large gins
but still I'll hide from you,
hide what's inside from you.

And alarm bells ring
when you say your heart still sings
when you're with me.
Won't you please forgive me?

But I no longer hear the music
Oh no no no no no

And all the memories of the pubs
and the clubs and the drugs and the tubs
we shared together,
Will stay with me forever.

But all the highs and the lows
and the to's and the fro's,
They left me dizzy,
Oh won't you please forgive me
I no longer hear the music
Oh no no no no

Well I no longer hear the music when the lights go out,
Love goes cold in the shades of doubt
The strange fate in my mind is all too clear.
Music when the lights come on
The girl I thought I knew has gone,
And with her my heart had disappeared...

Well I no longer hear the music
Oh no no no no no
All the memories of the fights and the nights
and the blue lights, all the kites
We flew together,
I thought they'd fly forever.

But all the highs and the lows
and the to's and the fro's
They left me dizzy,
Oh won't you forgive me

But I no longer hear the music
Oh no no no no no

Music when the lights go out
Love goes cold in the shades of doubt
The strange fate in my mind it's all too clear.
Music when the lights come on
The girl I thought I knew has gone
And With her my heart had disappeared

Well I no longer hear the music
Oh no no no no no
And no longer hear the music

Kristen Pfaff

I love this photo of Kristen Pfaff, she died at a very young age, just 27, three months after her lover Kurt Cobain. Both members af the 27 club. Like Axel Rose would say "she used to love her heroin and now she's underground." That's what happened, she was a drug addicted.
But I love this photo, it takes me back to the 90s when I was too small to listen to music. And there she stands, young with the black hair that covers up her skinny flesh. She's playing the bass and it seems that there's nothing more important to her than music. She doesn't care of Courtney that calls her a bitch for going out with her man, she doesn't care of Kurt that already has a wife and a daughter and he won't divorce, she doesn't care of people calling her anorexic, she seems to "want" the sound of her bass. Kristen isn't pretty, her body is too thin, her nose is quite too big, but she's beautifully ignoring the conventions of the world.
Then Kurt dies, and she just doesn't survive...

Dreams

MY LIFE IS MADE OF DREAMS. DREAMS THAT ARE WAITING TO COME TRUE.

But you know what I dream the most right now? Happiness. I dream to be happy as I've never been, I dream to smile all the time. And I dream to be happy all the time, no regrets, no sadness. I dream for I am young. So let there be happiness as if we are happy we forget that we are ill, that we are old, that we are mortals. The key of immortality is HAPPINESS...

Alexei Yagudin

This post is created to the man who made me dream with his talent, passion and power. He is the man who made me love ice skating and to which I'll always be faithful.
Alexei Yagudin gave to ice skating something that none else will never be able to give, his enormous talent. Try to watch one youtube any video of his Olimpic programs, from Winter to Man in the Iron Mask. To all the ice skating fans who are arguing to decide who is better between Lisacek and Evgeni Plushenko, I just tell you, go and watch Alexei Yagudin, then you will understand that you are arguing for nothing as Alexei gave to this sport everything that could be given. His short carreer is like a shining comet.
I've always thought that Alexei has been very misfortunate, he had a problem in his knee that made him stop when he was just 23, and when he was 18 he participated to his first Olimpics but reached only the fifth place because he got a cold before his long program. But in 2002 there where in Salt Lake City him a nd Plushenko... Alexei reported the golden medal in all the competitions of the year. He's the only one that got the maximum of the points in all the programs.
I like very much Evgeni Plushenko(he's the last representative of the russian generation of huge talents, all the other skaters mean nothing to me), but I have to say that I absolutely prefer Alexei Yagudin.

To the little shiny star that made me become Savannah, the girl on ice.

Conventional and unconventional beauties

Perception of beauty has changed a lot in the years. But something has remained always the same: women always want to be LYWM, Like You Want Me, the dream is to be LYWM from the top of the hair to the fingers of the feet.
Every girl wants to be like a little perfect lolita.

Like Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, daughter of the editor in chief Carine Roitfeld of the French magazine Vogue Paris. She is gorgeous, with her amazing green-blue eyes. Julia is becomming famous as a socialite and as Tom Ford's muse, she's also a model and a designer (she worked for Zac Posen).

But there are also the ones called unconventonal beauties, like Georgia May Jagger. Georgia is a model too, she one of the top models of the future, she has already worked for Versace and Chanel. For being LYWM she only has to change a bit her nose and to get better theeth. Her beautiful eyes tell us:" My talent is being an imperfect beauty."

From Paris with love

I'm the kind of person who would love to spend Christmas at Paris. Feel the lights on the Champs Elisées, the cold of the winter and the huge Lafayette and Colette stores.
I'd like to smell the scent of Chanel n.5 in Paris, because I have the feeling that in Paris Chanel would be unique.

I'd like to visit the Tour Eiffel and climb to it's highest point.
I'd like to go shopping in Yves Saint Laurent buotique.
I'd like to eat in a fine restaurant.
I'd like to walk down to the Seine and read on a bench Baudlaire's lyrics.
Once Guy de Maupassant wrote " Paris is unique. The air tastes like the finest champagne, and as you walk arround the streets you are like drunk of it."

When I'll go to Paris everything will be perfect.

♥Snow♥

Around my place is snowing a lot!!! Never seen such a snow even 'cause I'm living by the sea. On tuesday I've been blocked at school for 2 hours before getting home at 5.45 pm. Traffic jams are terrific around here, but schools are closed till sunday so I'll have plenty of time to post down something ;)

It reminds me of one of the best places I've been St.Moritz

Mark Ronson

"Mark Ronson's the most attractive man on Earth" just wrote Bret Easton Ellis on his Twitter. And we better belive him.
Mark is both famous for his dj sets and his illuminating music productions (like the outstanding Amy Winehouse Back to Black). But if there is one weord that can resume what Mark Ronson is, that word should be cool. Because he actually IS cool.
Born the 4 of september 1975 in England, Mark moves with his family to New York when he was just 5 years old. His mother was a socialite remarried to a musician, she used to have parties to which were invited rock stars such as David Bowie and Mick Jagger -one of his best friends is Sean Lennon-. In his young 20s he used to dj-set in the coolest clubs of New York. His sister Samantha Ronson is also a dj, best known for being Lindsay Lohan's ex-girlfriend.
Mark Ronson is a man who learned how to work on an immage: he created a cult of his personality, as a new dandy; Mark is a style icon always in the eye of paparazzi, entertaining and partecipating to the coolest events around the world. We should also remember his famous girlfriends, the model Daisy Lowe and the last one, the french singer and artist Josèphine de la Baume.
And what about his latest creations? Mark just recorded a new album Record Collection full of Eighties sounds and sintetizers, with some good collaborations with Simon Le Bon and Boy George.

Record Collection is like Mark, simply cool.

November Rain

I woke up yesterday, the weather was horrible. It was tremendously cloudy out side, and I am one of these fellows who change their mood along with the weather. I was feeling like a november rain, so here it's the summary of what I feel:

'Cause nothin' lasts forever
And we both know hearts can change                     "November Rain" Guns'n'Roses
And it's hard to hold a candle
In the cold November rain

Looking for prince charming

Now that prince William got engaged the available single princes lost their bright star.
Before he got engaged with the wonderful Kate Middleton he was the most desirable blue-blooded young man, but now he has found his princess.
So lets take a look to the remaining most wanted princes.
A public opinion poll shows that young girls really want to get engaged with Prince Harry (english monarchy), but is he the most desired???
No, the results of the poll is that Pierre Casiraghi is the prince charming that most girls want. (how can we blame them, just look to the beauty of this guy!!!)

So Pierre is member of the Monegasque monarchy and one of the Grace Kellys grandchildrens, he's just 23 but not single. He's long dating twin-soul is Beatrice Borromeo member of an italian noble family.

On the left the little kingdom of Monaco --->

Harry takes the second place, the young british prince is very popular for his relationship with Chelsea Davy, his missions with the British Army and for his troubled nights.
It looks like many young teenagers still love to dream a happy ending lovestory with a beautiful prince charming... SO ROMANTIC!!!

The winter style

As I said in my last post I have decided to change a bit my style. So I decided to look in the fall/winter 2010-2011 catalogues and that's what I noticed:

1) woolen hats are in their golden season, especially in the colors of grey and black. They are very romantic and they keeps us hot.
2) leggins are also very fashionable, in all their nuances, from black to white, but even colored, in the jeans version or in the black leather version for a more rock style
3) leggings fit very well with short dresses in the shades of pink and soft red
4) shoes: flat shoes are perfect for this very girly style, they can be black, white, grey or even brown
5) soft romantic pullovers are also in fashion, they can be matched over a dress, so that you won't die of cold (we should always remember that it's winter!!!)
6) for the accessoires long necklaces are very fashionable along as scarfs and bracelets with charms. If we want a more sporty bracelet that can also be elegant, why not chose the Nomination ones?? They are very nice and comfortable, you can chose beetwen 3 differnt sizes and hundreds of different immages (charms are always very personals so choose them one that represents you)
 7) hair is wavy with curls ( watch my preevious post about how to get curly hair)

If you want to see more you can watch the Freesoul catalogue, it gave me some ispiration, and also you can be inspired by Serena Van Derwoodsen photo.

A good day

Today I stayed at home in the morning 'cause I was sick, I soon realised that I could organize a good day by starting well. I woke up at 8 o'clock so that I woldn't lose my morning on sleeping. I put on the blackberry the morning alarm with the song "shine on" and I also set the phone so that I wound recive as soon as I stopped the alarm a "good morning" message. I started my day with a smile on the lips.
I soon realised that having breakfast slowly and watching in the meanwhile TV was a good idea. I didn't have to hurry up to catch the bus, I didn't have to waste an hour on choosing witch clothes to wear and do a lot of usually stressing things. So I put on some confy clothes and had breakfast while watching Gossip Girl.
A good idea when you have some time is to wash your face and put on a beauty mask, so that's what I did. Now my skin is really thanking me!!
The agreemnet with my parents was that I would stay at home on condition that I would study for my maths test, so I prepared a capuccino and started doing exercises, how did they go? Well, I'm not so good at maths but having a couple of hours to reread hat we've written at school, and do some exercises really helped me.
I was in a wonderful mood so as soon I finished studying I decided to plan a couple of things:

1) keep in touch with as much I can with the friends that I can't see often, like my Australian friend Jack
2) try to find a new clothing style and not put on clothes that are from a no-style
3) finish readind "the time travellers wife" - it has been on my desk for far too long-
4) find some more time for my blog

So I think that taking 1 hour a day just for me will help me to relax and don't be full of stress. And not being stressed means being happier!
Now my symbolic songs are: "she moves in her own way"                       Kooks
                                             "teenage dreams"                                       Katy Perry

I'm young, I'm a teenager and I have the right of being happy!!!
