Kasabian - Days Are Forgotten
song of the year, from the album of the year from the band of the last half decade.
Enjoy!
Youth Group - In My Dreams
can I say a wonderful song? Surely I can, this fantastic indie band from Australia has the right cards to become a huge indie phenomenon with their gentle rock.
In my dreams you are alive and breathing
Standing at my door, not speaking
I just can't face this is seems

Kooks vs Kasabian
As promised I will be summing up what became of the Kooks vs Kasabian chart battle. It looks like Kasabian have won this ring.
What has happened to the Kooks? I can say that their album was a complete flop. Not one of the two singles "Is it me" and "Junk of the heart (happy)" had a big success and that's a pity beacuase both of them sounded very nice and fresh.
It's time for Kasabian now, they were number 2 a week ago and now number 6. "Days are forgotten" is at half chart and it's a really beautiful song.
As Oasis have imploaded, Arctic Monkeys are still somewhat uncomfortable in the limelight and Kooks have flopped the British rock crown is Kasabian's for the taking. Ops! We're still waiting for Franz Ferdinand's next album!

Old style
There is something fashinating about what we call "vintage". Maybe it's the word, the fact that vintage means old and well kept. If we think about vintage clothes it jumps to our mind the image of this thin ladies very stilish and beautiful.
But vintage clothes are now for everyone who has enough money to spend on them. What was beautiful about vintage was that very few people had some clothes which could be called "vintage", but now with the explosion of this mania it's easy to buy some cloathes which are the same models as the old ones but that are made in China. If we think for example to Zara, they have many pieces of clothing which have this fantasies like the dresses from hte sixties.
So I'd concentrate on the things that really make us look as old stilished ladies: hatboxes and steamer trunks. They have this old fashioned allure and to have them is neades style, not money (which of course you have to have).
And the result will be that you will look fashionable as Audrey Hepburn.

Pattie Boyd
She was George Harrison's wife, then Eric clapton's wife. The muse of two of the biggest musicians ever, and it's not difficult to guess why. A style icon in the sixties before Twiggy, and much prettier than Twiggy.

Better Liam Gallagher or Noel Gallagher? Better Oasis!
Now that both brothers showed their new material as ex-Oasis the question is obvious... Who did the better job? Who is better? Who's the genius? As Beady Eyes have had their big ammount of unexpected success with "different gear still speeding", some Oasis purists were waiting for Noel's comeback. Now Noel and his new band the High Flying Birds have realeased their new single "The Death of You and Me". And now is obviously time for comparison. I'll tell you my opinion (as I always did actually). Beady Eyes is a good band, they've got the unmistakeble voice of Liam and the same songs as Oasis but without the sparkle (I'm not sure if the term is right) of Noel's presence.
The High Flying Birds are a godd bunch of musicians playing good music, they've got the unmistakable presence of Noel Gallagher and they play songs a bit different of the Oasis ones, but they miss that sparkle that made Oasis different from any other band, Liam's voice.
Now, I'm sure that both bands will have a fantastic future based on the success that Oasis had, because to be completely sincere, if Liam and Noel weren't famous for being in Oasis no one would have care less of both of them right now.
The High Flying Birds are too similar to any other rock band witch plays in british pubs, with the difference that they don't have the indie sound on witch is based the success of many new bands.
Beady Eyes simply make music that is too anacronistic for the 21rst century, they sound like a Beatles cover band!
So who's better?
Dear Liam and Noel, you can split on each other how much you want, but the truth is that only together you make wonderful music.
Oasis are better!
I like to remember them much more as brothers than as enemies.

I see a slight resemblance between the two in this photos, maybe it's not true, maybe it's just because of the hair, but I do see a resemblance...

My own private idaho
I love this movie, it talks about a lost gereration. Mike with all of his problems, his family the fact that he's in love with his best friend Scott, the drugs. He's like a lost kid in a big cruel world, where the only person he trustes and he loves can't be his. Scott also is incredible, he's got this horrible relationship with his father taht helds him to do drugs and to prostitution, but in the end he manages to start a new life with Carmela, while Mike continues his self-distruction. They are rebels and they're desperates.

The Beano Album
I love this cover. This album originally called "John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers" is famous with the name "the Beano album" because of young Eric Clapton reading the comic for kids "Beano". This album made Eric Clapton a famous guitar player because at the time -1966- no one could quite belive the fluid guitar licks and the biting tone. This album was the basis for the slogan "Clapton is God" around London, witch lately became a graffiti on a wall of the town. Clapton stated in his autobiography that he was reading Beano during the photoshot because he felt like being "uncooperative".

Mick Rock and Syd Barrett
Syd Barrett was one of the first rockstars who were photographed by legendary Mick Rock. Recently there has been an art exposition about the late rocker titled Syd Barrett Art and Letters, witch featured some letters and photos of the musician. I leave you with some photos of the one I consider one of my favourite artists.

Mtv Music Awards 2011!
Well it's absolutely time to comment what happened yesterday at the Mtv Music Awards. It looks like that this world isn't a place for me and many of my readers -at least musically talking-. What to say, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry were the queens of the awards, Beyoncé is pregnant and Justin Bieber won for the best male video. I know that actually he's got really a lot of fans (for some strange reason that I can't understand), but I mean at least, if you won't give a prize to some rock band, well I say at least give it to Enrique Iglesias: same kind of music but the singer is a lot hotter (even a wombat would be sexier than Justin Bieber!). Don't get me wrong, I don't live in the music of the past, I actually am a fan of Katy Perry's and I actually Like Lady Gaga -but I absolutely think that she's ludicrous with her outfits- but the only artist who was outstanding this year was Adele and she got home with only three thiny prizes. Even if her videos weren't the most sexually exiciting-like "Born this way"-, even if they hadn't the newest special effects -like "E.T."-, they give people shivers. I actually was shivering and always in perfect silence in front of her great voice.
Another point is the winner of the best new artist, the wonderful, obviously ironically talking, Tyler The Creator. I can't even comment on this artist, it goes beyond words, I'll just leave you the video of his song "Yonkers", were he plays with an insect and at a certain point he's vomiting.
And on that on I'll gio prepare my luggage and move to Mars, where I'm sure they listen to better music!

Kooks vs Kasabian
September will be a very important month talking about music. Actually the 12th of the month comes out the new Kooks album and just a few days later, the 19th, is coming out the new Kasabian album. Both bands have a lot of support all over England and Europe, but it looks like this is going to be a war for the first place in the music ranking. Both bands had already a number 1 album, rispectivly "konk" and " West Ryder Pauper Lunantic Asylum", but this time they are releasing almost at the same time, so... there are not two number one places, who will win? While Kooks said nothing about their collegues, Serge Pizzorno, one of the two frontmen of Kasabian, has already bashed out the rivals, saying that "Kooks make music for girls" (by the way, what's the problem if girls like kooks more than kasabian?). Well we will see who between Kooks, who play girly music, or Kasabian, who are self-titled macho-musicians, will win this tournement.

Mona
In the last month another band just blew my mind... MONA!! They are american and come from Nashville, the city of music. Their songs Teenager and Listen to your love sound just like a classic piece of rock music, because they're pure rock.
I think that especially in Teenager you can hear a certain influence of other punk bands such as 30 seconds to Mars, but I like them more.
So let's talk about them a little.
Mona, consisting of members Nick Brown (lead vocals, guitar), Vince Gard (drums, percussion), Zach Lindsey (bass, backing vocals) and Jordan Young (guitar, backing vocals), originated from Dayton, Ohio, though they are now located in Nashville, Tennessee. Brown revealed the band's name refers to his grandmother, Mona Brown.[4] Formed in 2007,[5] the band went through various line-up alterations during its first few years, including the departure of a guitarist following a heated argument with Brown. Zach joined the group following a band visit to Nashville, Tennessee, where Zach was finishing a project with another band. Jordan was brought in following the previously mentioned guitarist's exit.
In April 2009, Brown was introduced to Saul Galpern, creator of Nude Records by a mutual friend. Soon after their online introduction, Galpern flew to Nashville to meet the band. Having been very impressed by them, Galpern signed a management contract with the band which led to a record deal with Island Records in September 2010.
An announcement made on April 4, 2011, revealed the band would be playing with the Kings of Leon during a one day festival held in Slane Castle, Ireland, on May 28, 2011.
In February 2011 Mona announced the release date of their self-titled debut album which was self-produced by the band in their basement in Nashville and mixed by producer Rich Costey (Foo Fighters, Muse, Arctic Monkeys)

P.S. NIck Brown, Mona's singer, looks a little like Joe Strummer, doesn't he? ;)

The band released their debut single "Listen to Your Love" in the United Kingdom on 13 September 2010 through their own independent record label Zion Noiz Recordings.[7] Second single "Trouble On the Way" was then released through Zion Noiz Recordings/Island Records on 13 December 2010.[8] Mona released their third single "Teenager" on 7 February 2011.[9]In February 2011 Mona announced the release date of their self-titled debut album which was self-produced by the band in their basement in Nashville and mixed by producer Rich Costey (Foo Fighters, Muse, Arctic Monkeys)

Girl Power!
my best friend and I have always been supportive to Girl Power. So here a little dedication to us:
Girl Power doesn't mean "I can survive without a boy" but "To me you are more important than every boy"
Girl Power doesn't mean "I'll always be single" but "I'm looking for the man of my life"
Girl Power doesn't mean "I can't hang out with that gorgeus guy from fifth class" but "The boy from fifth class has to deserve it to hang out with me"
So to every girl in the world: GIRL POWER MEANS GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN
the Cindy Lauper song is very educational in this point of view ;)

Back to Music! The Vaccines
I really hadn't had enought time to write a piece for my blog. Now that I found some time I decid to get back to the base of my blog, music. MTV has changet it's channels on sky, so now I have MTV rocks, that is an english channel (I'm also able to watch uK's adds-I can't understand the utility to show me britain's products since I'll never be able to buy them, unless I take the plane, go shopping in a supermarket in London and fly back- ).
Nevermind, the nice thing is that I was able to hear some english music, that I won't hear in Italy. What did I discover? English music is pretty pretty good, but that's nothing new I suppose. English music has been pretty pretty good since the '60s.
Well I heard this new band, the Vaccines. It looks like I'm a little late 'cause I understood that they're quite famous in Britain. But I should say that their tune "If you wanna" is very nice. I also understood that they were famous before even "being famous", I mean they were able to build their "famousness" before evn releasing their LP.
How were they able to do it? Here there are some easy steps to make of your band something big (as the Vaccines did):
1) Their identity was so hidden that someone thought that one of the musicians was a member of the Royal family for godness' sake! Being misterious always helps, even in love.
2) Their "parterre" is famous. Belive me, if between you can count celebrities such as Alex Kapranos, well you're almoust there. Is a paper writes that Alex Kapranos was spotted at your gig, they will write the name of your band in the article. Some crazy or curious fan of Franz Ferdinand's will come to a gig of yours and try to listen to you. Or meet Alex Kapranos.
3) Blog entries entirely dedicated to the fact that they did a sold out, or dedicated to their incredible talent. If you have some bloggers friends the game is done.
4)Their concerts last half an hour. That's not something that I apreciate, but the lesson that we can take is that doing something original, not only on the musical level, helps. The strange things always chatch your eye.
I mean, just look at Lady Gaga. Which popstar would ever call her fans "monsters"? Who would ever be dressed by pieces of meat? Who would make strange and horrible videos for his songs? The answer is Lady Gaga.
And she as The Vaccines started everything with a simple principal "I'm famous even if nobody knows me". And here they are, famous in the real world. Even if their music isn't this original. So if you have a band, well try these few tips, they might work on you too. ;)

A prince and a millionaire
I was surfing around the net when I found the picture of Carl Hirschmann and Pierre Casiraghi together. In the photo they seem to have great fun. So I want to talk a little about them. Pierre Casiraghi, already mentioned in my "looking for prince charming" post, is prince of Monaco. Carl Hirschmann is a swiss multi millionaire. Son of multi millionaires he lives his golden life between top models and socialites (he dated Paris Hilton in 2003). Carl is best known as an international playboy, and it looks like some girls actually fall in love for him. You remember when last year the top model Noemie tried to committed suicide for him, but seems like he really didn't care about her love as in the same period he was involved in a sexual scandal involving some top models.
Pierre Casiraghi is prince of Monaco, and this in my opinion tells everything it has to be said about him. He's young, just 23, hansom and rich. Also there were some scandalous photos of him naked at the beach and some others of him fighting with another guy probably in defense of his ex-girlfriend Olympia Scarry.
Carl Hirschmann and Pierre Casiraghi are both known as part of the young european jet set society, so isn't it lucky for a girl looking for some public attention to meet both of them in one night? Don't say that it's impossible, like meeting Zac Efron and Robert Pattinson in the same club the same night, because it isn't.
The photo showing both of them together (hugged) was taken in the Saint Germain club, owned by Hirschmann, at the Seven Years Rocking Zurich Party. It is likely that you girls who are trying to become rich and famous will find at least Hirschmann having fun in his club (center Zurich), but if you are lucky Casiraghi will attend to same parties too. And they are both known for appreciating female company ;)

Top DJs
Well here I present the top djs of the moment. I'm not talking about who's music is the best, but who is the most remarcable or in fashion or beautiful dj in my opinion.
1) David Guetta
. Even though he's not the most beautiful one or the most in fashion, we can't denie that he made us dance all summer long with his song sexy chick. You people out there that don't know who David Guetta is.. well I hope that your excuse is that you're back from a 2 years tripping on Mars, or you'd better leave Europe right now!!! David Guetta is the God of dj-setting right now... so he's number ONE.
2)Tommy Vee. You might not know him, but he's an italian dj and music producer, he's so damn good!!!
He's in second position for he's young talented and very hot. ;)
3)Mark Ronson gains the third position. He's the most elegant of all the djs and he dj setted in the most trendy places around New York. We should also remember that he's the best poducer of all the others, if you have any doubt try to releasten back to black (amy winehouse)
4) Alex Kapranos. No he's not a full time dj, he's best known for being Franz Ferdinand's front man. Why is he here? A rock star on the plates? Good try and good result! (Let's not mention the fact that he also looks so cute)
Do you agree with my top 4? If not tell me and the others your opinion by commenting the post (don't worry I won't kill you if your opinion is different! ;)

Seth Lakeman
I don't know much about Seth Lakeman but I will try to talk a little about him, according to my possibilities because he isn't fomous at all in Italy, and I heard only a couple of songs of his.
It's actually funny to know how I was able to find out of his exitance. I was coming back to Italy after a journey to London, I was carring my luggage to the station when I find myself facing a couple of these paper boys that were throwing papers to people. I didn't want one because I was carring 10 kg of clothes and other stuff and I was hurring in order no to loose my flight, so actually running with a paper in a hand and the luggage in the other one wasn't at the top of my dreams. But one of this paper boys was so able to do his job that I found myself holding in my hands the paper despite my volontee. Well, I conserve since them that paper not the Sun nor the Guardian but the London Lite. Well a couple of weeks ago I found it forgiven in a corner of my room. I took it out as a toy of our young years and I started rereading it. In one of the pages I found out the article of the gigs of the night in London, and one of them involved Seth Lakeman. I had no idea of who he was but lets be sincere, the photo was very nice, he looked quite gorgeous, and I remember pretty faces. The fact that we looked good was very important as the other day I was zapping in youtube and his name flashed in my mind. Well I just did a little research and I listened to "Lady of the Sea". "Good tune man! For a guy that plays at the end of the year party in colleges it's a very good tune!" that's what I thought at the end of the song. Well I don't know much about him as I said but I belive he's a next to be in english music bacause he's talented, so maybe try to listen to him and buy his CD.

Dirty Pretty Things
2005, the Libertines split up. Pete Doherty makes the Babyshambles, and the other part of the band form the Dirty Pretty Things. I have to say that I wasn't so convicted of the idea that Dirty Pretty Things was a good band, 'cause the talent of Libertines was clearly of Pete Doherty. Well, I just heard "Bang bang, you're dead". I have to say that they are really good. Carl Barat did well the job of forming another good band. The only thing that I have to say is that sadly (?) they scaringly look too much like the Libertines, the same kind of music, the same kind of song, the same kind of arrangement. I'm happy about that because I really like the Libertines, so having a band that could make the same kind of music at almost the same quality makes me happy. But now that the Libertines are back together and neither Babyshambles nor Dirty Pretty Thing broke up what kind of albums will Dirty Pretty Things be doing? They would be too similar to the songs that Libertines would be doing, that's a problem! They were ok when the Libertines no more existed and so Carl Barat and the others continued ideally the work of their previous band. But now the two coexist and that's impossible, or they spit up or they have to have an evolution to something more original. We will see how this will end.

My pochette, on the back is Lancome and it always has inside:
1) mascara (Rimmel London)
2) kajal for eyes (Lancome) N.B. it's like a normal black pencil but it is softer and the colour lasts longer
3) stick that hides the blemish (Rimmel London)
4) little parfume (Elle by Yves Saint Laurent)
5) Labello lipstick
6) a pair of earrings for an occasional change (Bijou Brigitte)
7) little mirror
8) hair-pin (Bijou Brigitte) flowers are very fashionable this season
9) a coloured elastic that can also become a funny and casual bracialet

Teenage fashion
Teenage girls such as me always don't know what to put in their bags. Well, as I was again thinking about what to carry with me and what not, I decided to write a piece about it after half an hour spent on troubling.
First, you should get the bag, I prefer the big ones, like mine, a Chanel one.
1) coloured gloves
2) hat -Terranova-
If it's winter they will always keep you warm if needed
3) i-pod + earphones (mine are Samsung and you can change their colour)
4) mobile phone (sounds obvious but people carries it in their pocket and it's really ugly)
5) sunglasses mine are from Bata (even in winter they can be useful)
6) wallet (mine is lets say very wintery)
7) pochette for all we need in matter of make up (mine is Lancome)
Next post will be about what to put in the pochette, sounds quite ridiculous but sometimes we just fill it up with unecessary things and leave out the most important ones.
